J-Hugh Farms

The J‑Hugh Farms co‑op

A co-op member is somebody who buys into the farm. You are not ordering groceries — you are backing the herd and the flock for a year, and your family eats off it the whole time.

One share, one year

This is what a full share holds. It does not arrive all at once — it is yours on the farm, and you pull from it as your family eats through the year.

The co-op board: 50 whole chickens, 2 whole turkeys, 2 whole ducks, 12 six-packs of quail, 1 whole lamb, 1 whole goat, 1 hog, 12 rabbits — pay in full, twelve months to grab your meat, guaranteed until it is gone, mix and match
Straight off the board John hands out around Eastman.

Shares are worked out one family at a time, so the number is a conversation, not a checkout button. John will go through it with you on the phone.

How it works

Pay in full up front

One payment buys the share. That money goes into feed, fence and the next round of animals.

Twelve months to draw it

Your meat does not all land in your freezer on day one. Take it as you need it across the year.

Guaranteed until it is gone

Every member is guaranteed their meat until the share is drawn down. Nobody gets bumped.

Mix and match

Trade around inside your share. Fewer rabbits, more chicken — work it out with John.

Why people go in on a share

You know where it came from

One farm, one family, one set of pastures. You can name the place your supper was raised.

The freezer is already full

No running to town for meat. A year of protein sitting at home, bought at one time.

It keeps the farm going

Member money is what lets us raise the next flock. Dodge County keeps a working meat farm.
