John Hughes tending a pit full of chicken quarters
John Hughes · Eastman, GA

John Hughes has lived in Eastman his whole life. This is home — the same roads, the same church lots, the same ball fields — and the farm sits right in the middle of it.

He raises healthy animals on pasture and shares the food that comes off it. Lamb, goat, rabbit, quail, chicken, duck, turkey and pork, raised at the pace an animal actually grows, then cut and packed by the same family.

The farm feeds its neighbors. Somebody calls about a bird for Sunday dinner, somebody else needs a hog for a reunion, and John loads it out the door. That is what a working farm is for.

Co-op members take it a step further — they buy into the farm for the year and eat off their share the whole time. Call John and he will walk you through it.

Call John and ask anything. That is the point of buying local.
